Small space, basically takeout only (I recommend ordering ahead). I got the vegetarian tofu nugget onigirazu medium spicy which was delicious! Well seasoned and filling. It’s pretty messy to eat so grab napkins or a sandwich bag. The creamy matcha latte paired really nicely with it.

Delicious onigiri-style sandwiches made fresh to order. The beef & ginger was outstanding, packed with flavor, and the cooked tuna was great as well. The salmon avocado was pleasant but a but lacked in flavor (maybe because I told them not too spicy and they left out some ingredients) . I also loved the yuzu ginger honey matcha, balanced sweetness, a bright ginger kick, and even tiny pieces of ginger that come through the straw. There’s limited seating and a short wait while everything’s prepared, but it’s absolutely worth it when your sandwich arrives warm and soft.

Small counter-serve kitchen with decent onigiri and drinks. Stopped by to pick up a few onigiri for a recent road trip. Premium onigiri spots seem to be popping up everywhere lately, and while I love the idea, the prices here made me hesitant. $11–$13 for a single onigiri is basically the price of a full rice bowl. The toppings are “elevated” (chashu pork for the ramen-ish onigiri, for example), but I’m not convinced the format does them justice. Onigiri is meant to be quick, simple (and cheap) comfort food, and the portion here is roughly the size of a small rice bowl. The bigger issue is that these don’t hold up well. Plain onigiri can sit wrapped for hours, but with toppings like karaage, everything turned mushy pretty fast. Overall, definitely better than the sub-$5 pre-packed versions you find at markets, but at this price point, I’m not sure I’d return.

The onigiri was super delicious - I got the spicy tuna avocado and it was super flavorful. However, I was a bit disappointed by the matcha. I got the creamy matcha and it was very bitter and didn’t taste super high quality. My companion got the yuzu ginger and honey matcha and it was pretty good but didn’t taste that much like matcha.

I made a mistake and ordered pick up from the wrong store and they were so kind in helping me resolve the situation! Staff was so friendly and understanding. The food was delicious, I had the salmon avocado and the salmon and egg onigirazu as well as a hojicha latte. The onigirazu was freshly made and so filling. The hojicha was so fragrant and slightly sweet. 10/10 would come here again for lunch.

Tokuyamatcha is a solid choice for a quick takeaway, though you should definitely plan to grab and go as there is no indoor seating and only a tiny table outside for two or three people. They offer a great variety of matcha teas and lattes, and while the onigiris are undeniably delicious, they are on the expensive side; for the price, I expected a bit more flavor, especially since you can find larger portions for less elsewhere. Just be prepared for a bit of a mess—it’s a hands-on snack, so make sure to grab plenty of napkins. Overall, I’m satisfied with my purchase and wouldn't mind stopping by for a treat every now and then.

Obsessed is an understatement!! One of my new favorite spots. The matcha is so smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. None of that bitter aftertaste you sometimes get elsewhere. And don’t even get me started on the onigirazu… it’s comfort food wrapped up in the most creative, flavorful way.

The creamy matcha is kind of life changing. SO good. I truly believe it’s the best matcha order. The beef and ginger sandwich is a real star. It’s amazing. I wish the filling went a bit further to the edges so that you don’t end on large bites of rice but, it’s amazing overall. Great gluten free friendly option! There’s a small table outside but don’t count on getting seating on a weekend.
